Initial treatment started on day 9 of the cycle. The patient normally couldn’t tell from body symptoms if ovulation had occurred. Treatment aimed at reducing stress and stimulating ovulation. A few days after initial treatment, the patient noticed strong pangs in ovary area and increased mucus production. A 32-year-old female trying to conceive for 18 months. Blood tests had shown she was not ovulating and the patient was waiting for an appointment with a consultant. The patient was very stressed and emotionally drained from the regular disappointment of not getting pregnant. She was not sleeping. Menstrual cycle was a regular 23 days. Initial treatment was on day 3. Treatment was aimed at stimulating ovulation and reducing stress and assisting sleep. Simple relaxation techniques recommended. After initial treatment patient “slept like a log” and woke to feel refreshed. Within 3 weeks the patient was feeling more emotionally balanced. Ovulation physical symptoms returned on the 2nd cycle. Patient conceived naturally on the third cycle of acupuncture.

A 29-year-old male presented with poor sperm motility. Diet and lifestyle suggestions were enacted. Over the following 3 months weekly acupuncture treatments were aimed at nourishing sperm and improving overall health and energy levels. After 3.5 months the sperm was rechecked. There was an improvement in motility and quantity. The patient then did an ICSI cycle and 19 fertilised embryos were achieved. A positive pregnancy resulted from this cycle.
